Vietcotra Excellent Shan Tea

A most unusual wild growing tea produced from the rare var. pubilimba, it has a sweet young sheng puerh-like taste without the bitterness.

This tea provides a rare opportunity to try tea produced from var. pubilimba, the cousin of var. sinensis and var. assamica. Shan Tuyet translates as Snow Tea, it is so named as the tea is uniquely covered in white furs bearing a resemblance to snow.

The tea has been made for hundreds of years by the local Vietnamese H'Mong tribe from the very same wild growing trees as today. The trees as you would expect are hundreds of years old and range in height from three to six meters.

The region where the H'Mong reside and where the elder tea trees grow is called Suoi Giang Commune, ‘suoi giang’ mean 'Spring Sky' in their local non-Vietnamese language.
